New Jack Daniel’s & Coca-Cola Ready-to-Drink Canned Cocktails

Whiskey fans are particular about how bartenders mix their drinks. Some cocktails can be made with off-brand replacements, but a Jack & Coke is a Jack & Coke. There are only two ingredients: Jack Daniel’s and Coca Cola. No replacements will do. If you’re a fan of the iconic cocktail, then you’re in luck. Brown-Forman Corporation (the makers of Jack Daniel’s) and The Coca-Cola Company announced that they are partnering up to produce Jack Daniel’s & Coca-Cola, a ready-to-drink canned cocktail.

James Quincey, Chairman and CEO of Coca-Cola said in an interview with CNBC, “There is — at the end — no better, and no more popular bar call than Jack & Coke. And so we got together with them and said, ‘Look, if we’re going to do this, we believe that by putting Coca-Cola in the Jack, we can take what was an existing premixed cocktail to a completely new level and create [sic] something that really works for consumers…'”

Worldwide Release

We have some good news, and we have some bad news (unless you live in Mexico). The good news is that the Jack Daniel’s & Coca-Cola ready-to-drink canned cocktail will be releasing worldwide, starting in late 2022. The bad news is that the location of their first release will be Mexico. When that release will be travelling north of the Mexican border, the companies didn’t say. We can only hope that it will be soon. Why the two beverage giants are starting their release in Mexico, they also don’t disclose; however, the fact that Mexico drinks the most Coca-Cola products per capita worldwide may have a strong correlation.

Coca Cola’s New Move into Alcoholic Drinks

This has been a big year for Coca Cola, a big, boozy year. The Jack Daniel’s and Coca-Cola announcement comes after the company announced plans to release an alcoholic version of two of their other top-selling products. Coca-Cola teamed up with Constellation Brands with plans to release Coca-Cola’s popular grapefruit soda, Fresca, as a vodka soda on an undisclosed date “later this year”. The Coca-Cola company also paired with Molson Coors to release Simply Spiked Lemonade, which is available nationwide in stores now. This Molson Coors and Coca-Cola partnership also gave us Topo Chico, and because of the success of the hard seltzer, Coca-Cola was inspired to continue the partnership.

The Details

Unfortunately, details on the Jack Daniel’s & Coca-Cola ready-to-drink (RTD) cocktails are scarce on the ground, but we do know a couple of details. First, these Jack Daniel’s & Coca-Cola canned cocktails are going to have an alcohol content at a 5% ABV. This is an average alcohol content for hard seltzers and canned cocktails. Second, these RTDs will be offered in short cans that are just under 12 oz (350 ml). Last, the two-company partnership announced that they will also be releasing a Jack Daniel’s & Coca-Cola canned cocktail with zero sugar.
