Simply Spiked Lemonade
Twitter is buzzing. Memes abound. This can only mean one thing. Another beloved brand is getting into the ready-to-drink game. At the epicenter of all of this buzz is Simply Lemonade, a product of the Coca-Cola company and the top selling refrigerated lemonade in the United States. All of this buzz is because Coca Cola teamed up with Molson Coors once again to release Simply Spiked Lemonade this summer. The two beverage industry giants teamed up before to release Topo Chico Hard Seltzer last year. Due to the success of Topo Chico, these mega-brands announced that they are teaming up again for this new release. This partnership plans to bring full-flavor hard seltzers to market, leveraging Simply Juice’s reputation for their delicious varieties of juice. The Simply Spiked Lemonade Pack will have four flavors, inspired by Simply Lemonade’s fan favorites. These flavors will be Signature Lemonade, Strawberry Lemonade, Watermelon Lemonade, and Blueberry Lemonade.
“Has it been killing us that we’ve had to keep this drop under wraps? YES,” The brand wrote on their Twitter announcement in May 2022. “Have we been behind the scenes reading all your comments waiting for the perfect moment to reveal ourselves. Also yes”.
Despite their tweet, Coca Cola and Molson Coors didn’t actually keep this release completely under wraps. However, while they may have announced the release of Simply Spiked Lemonade on the Molson Coors website in January 2022, they waited until May to announce the release to fans on social media. The Twitter announcement earned such a reaction that Simply Spiked Lemonade’s account got temporarily shut down when they responded to other twitter users. The excitement was likely so huge due to the fact that Simply Lemonade is a household regular. In a press release from Molson Coors, the brand states that Simply is in one of two households in America.
Molson Coors responded to the social media hype in their May press release. In it, Joy Ghosh, a vice president at Molson Coors Beverage Company, said, “We knew people would be excited once they found out about Simply Spiked Lemonade™. We didn’t expect the unprecedented level of consumer hype, which we’ve never seen for a product announcement before. From all the tweets, memes and off-the-charts social excitement, people are pumped to try this product and the good news is, the wait is almost over. In a few weeks, drinkers across the country will be able to try Simply Spiked Lemonade™ for themselves.”
The four flavors of Simply Spiked Lemonade will be available in a variety pack with 12 oz slim cans. Stores will also be selling 24 oz single flavor cans, though these will only be available in select flavors. These offerings have an alcohol content of 5% abv which is average for hard seltzers. Bonus points, they also feature real fruit juice. Using real fruit juice has been a growing trend with hard seltzers and rtds. The difference here, however, is that Simply Spiked Lemonade features the country’s favorite lemonade, meaning this brand really knows their juice. One thing is for sure, this is going to be one sweet summer.
