Limeade is the New Lemonade

Did you know that limes used to be a British military secret? Not only are they delicious in cocktails, but they also have health benefits and a rich history. It’s no wonder that limes are so popular right now. According to a press release put out by Simply Spiked, lime is “the #3 flavor in alternative beverages after tea and lemonade.” This is the reason Simply Spiked gave for releasing their third flavor pack, Simply Spiked Limeade.

“We’re always at the forefront of the next big thing in flavor, identifying trends through a combination of category insights, emerging consumer interest and of course, listening to our day-one fans to shape our innovations,” said Jamie Rotnicki, vice president of Innovation at Molson Coors Beverage Company. “It’s no secret that limeade is a fan favorite. This flavor is HOT, it’s the #3 flavor in alternative beverages after tea and lemonade [1], so it only made sense for Simply Spiked Limeade to be the third addition to the Simply Spiked family. With the launch of Simply Spiked Limeade we’re looking to build on the brand’s momentum from the past few years and bring our day-one fans a new line of flavors that’s as on trend as they are.”

Four New Flavors

Simply Spiked Limeade comes in four flavors, Signature Limeade, Cherry Limeade, Passion Fruit Limeade, and Blackberry Limeade. According to the brand website, Signature Limeade is “clean” and “zesty” with a “refreshing lime finish.” Cherry Limeade has “sweet and tart notes” mixed with “a blast of lime.”  As for Blackberry Limeade, you get a “slightly tart” drink with an “effervescent finish.” Last but not least, Passion Fruit Limeade has “tropical notes,” a “hint of lime,” and a “smooth, fruity finish.” These drinks contain 5% juice and an alcohol content of 5% ABV.

Everything We Know

Simply Spiked Limeade is “rolling out soon,” according to the brand’s Instagram. While Simply Spiked has not issued a launch date, their media campaign kicks off in February, so it’s a pretty safe bet that the drinks will be available then. When the drinks are available for purchase, you will be able to snag these in variety-flavor 12-packs of 12 oz cans and single-serve 24-oz tall cans.
