According to the brand, “SunnyD has enjoyed renewed popularity, with 30%+ growth since 2019.”

Harvest Hill Beverage Company, the parent company of SunnyD, has decided to take its product to an all new, adult stage. The brand just announced that there will be an alcoholic version of the iconic childhood favorite drink, SunnyD Vodka Seltzers, that will be hitting shelves as soon as this weekend.

“SunnyD is a powerful brand, the most boldly unique orange drink on the planet,” Ilene Bergenfeld, Chief Marketing Officer of the Harvest Hill Beverage Company, said in a March 7, 2023 press release. “Consumers are passionate about this iconic brand, rooted in nostalgia but with a taste that resonates today. Many have told us that they enjoy SunnyD as a mixer and asked for this product. So, we looked at the hard seltzer category, and thought, good, but we can do better. And SunnyD Vodka Seltzer was born.”

Is it Really SunnyD Without the Sugar?

SunnyD has long been known as a sugary drink choice; however, the SunnyD Tangy Original doesn’t have as much sugar as juice or soda. One cup (8 oz serving) of SunnyD contains 14 grams of sugar. This is definitely less sugar than orange juice (20 grams per 8 oz serving) or orange soda (28 grams per 8 oz serving). However, the level of sugar in SunnyD is still enough to give you a toothache if you drink too much. Therefore, one of the most surprising pieces of information about these new SunnyD Vodka Seltzers is that they have 0 grams of sugar. Is it really SunnyD without any sugar? SunnyD Vodka Seltzers aren’t just coming in low on sugar; these ready-to-drink cocktails will have only 95 calories. The alcohol content of these vodka seltzers is 4.5% ABV, which is in line with High Noon and White Claw Vodka Sodas.

We have good news! You may spot SunnyD Vodka Seltzers on the shelves of your local Walmart as soon as this Saturday (March 11, 2023). The drinks will come in four packs at a suggested retail price of $9.99. The drinks come in 12 oz slim cans and contain real fruit juice and vodka. These drinks will be available nationwide at select retailers.
