Truly Hard Seltzer Review: Blueberry & Acai
Truly Gets a Little Grapey with Their Blueberry & Acai Berry Combination
— When you think of super fruits like blueberries and acai, you are met with visuals of tropical forests carrying nature’s bounties. But you also find yourself with images of energy boosting drinks, athletic activities and recreational pursuits. After all, these two berries are famous for their rich nutritional value. So it’s not surprising that the Truly Blueberry & Acai Hard Seltzer attracts sports enthusiasts in a big way. Envision an evening with friends watching the big game. There’s a feverish excitement in the air. You are waiting for a dramatic finish as the final seconds to tick off of the clock. The tension is palpable. A chilled drink is just what you need in this moment. So you open the fridge and pull out this Truly Hard Seltzer expecting a win. But wait, there may be a foul.
While this may seem like a “truly” unique review, Blueberries and acai is by no means an unusual combination as you can find the duo in many foods and supplements. However, Truly’s attempt at infusing the flavors in to their spiked seltzer leaves a bit to be desired. While the carbonation is good and this hard seltzer has a pleasant smell, there’s something off about the flavor. It’s a bit too strong and overpowering. It also has somewhat of an artificial taste to it. Nevertheless, it’s still a palatable beverage if you can get past the overwhelming flavor profile. The bold, sweet flavor of this blueberry & acai hard seltzer definitely lets you know that it’s there. The drink itself may lean towards the average side, but the combination of flavors may entice you to give it a try if you’re a fan. It’s also tastes much better cold than as it warms, so drink swiftly or pour over ice.
Truly Blueberry & Acai Hard Seltzer Tastes Like Grape
If you like grape bubble gum then you’re in luck. Truly’s berry concoction will definitely take you back to your childhood days of riding bikes and chomping on a big wad of grape flavored Hubba Bubba or Big League Chew. It’s not a taste that everyone necessarily enjoys, but some will still find it enjoyable. And if the flavor seems somewhat harsh for you taste or too overpowering, you could always dilute it by adding crush ice cubes or mixing it with a harder liquor for a super berry power cocktail. Plus, like Truly’s other hard seltzers, it’s only a hundred calories per serving with just 2 grams of carbohydrates. Pretty decent stats for a hard seltzer boasting a respectable 5% ABV.
One could argue that the bold and aggressive flavor of Truly Blueberry & Acai Hard Seltzer is too much to handle on its own. If the flavor was toned down a bit we feel it would definitely be more enjoyable to drink and would have performed better in our review. But perhaps a strong flavored seltzer is simply an opportunity to try new and bold adventures. Incorporating this flavor with lighter mixers, juices or other alcoholic drinks might just do the trick and make this one of your go-to choices.
