Happy Dad Hard Seltzer Releases New Limited Edition Banana Flavor With an NFT Twist
Happy Dad Limited-Edition Banana Hard Seltzer
What do bananas, NFTs (non-fungible tokens), and hard seltzer have in common? If you had asked us a week ago, we would have been scratching our heads. But hard seltzer brand Happy Dad just released a limited-edition banana hard seltzer using a popular NFT as their branding.
Happy Dad Hard Seltzer is a brand that is used to making headlines. Youtubers the Nelk Boys launched Happy Dad in 2021. NELK, or the Nelk Boys, is a Canadian American entertainment group that grew famous for prank videos. They currently have 9.5 million subscribers on YouTube. Since 2021, Happy Dad has become the most followed hard seltzer brand on social media platforms with over 950,000 followers. They released their Happy Dad products on the promise of low-carbonation and short cans.
Something Different
Happy Dad Banana Hard Seltzer is novel in many ways. First, banana is a rare flavor among hard seltzers. To date, it is the first single-flavor banana hard seltzer that we’ve come across at Seltzer Nation. Additionally, according to Happy Dad’s press release, this is the first time that a hard seltzer brand has displayed an NFT on its packaging. Happy Dad purchased this NFT from one of the most famous lines of NFTs, Bored Ape Yacht Club.
“We are big NFT fans over here at Happy Dad, and it made sense for us to purchase a Bored Ape,” says Sam Shahidi, Co-Founder and CEO of Happy Dad Hard Seltzer. “We wanted to create something unique for everyone to enjoy while also having the NFT community involved. Obviously, banana is a bold flavor and hasn’t been seen before, but we nailed the flavor and it’s refreshing and delicious.”
Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT
For those not “in the know” about what an NFT is, an NFT is a digital asset. Each asset has its own set of letters and numbers, like a bar code. That “bar code” exists on a cryptocurrency blockchain. Picture it like a digital dollar bill, but, unlike a dollar bill, the asset’s value can go up and down. That asset is often an image, but it can be anything digital (including music, videos, and books). There’s an ongoing debate on whether the purchaser of that NFT can use their asset commercially or not, but Bored Ape Yacht Club’s creators awarded the owners of their NFTs limited intellectual property rights. There’s more to it, but that’s what you need to know.
Bored Ape Yacht Club is one of the most recognizable NFTs. Each individual image in the Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT series is unique, and Bored Ape Yacht Club only produced 10,000 assets. The current “floor price” for a Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT is over one-hundred-ten thousand dollars. After Happy Dad LLC purchased a Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT, the founders decided to create a hard seltzer around it. In comes the Happy Dad Banana Hard Seltzer.
